Forex calculator toolkit

Calculate risk before the entry.

Position size, pip value, margin, and profit/loss — calculated instantly with the same exact-decimal engine the journal uses. Know the numbers before the entry, not after.

  • Free — no login
  • Deterministic engine
  • No signals, no advice

Map.Trade does not provide buy/sell signals, execute trades, or manage funds. It helps traders review historical performance, risk, and behavior.

Most oversized losses are decided before the entry click: a lot size that was never calculated, a pip value that was assumed wrong, margin that was not there. This toolkit makes those few decisive calculations instant and deterministic.

How it works

  1. 1
    Pick the tool

Position size, pip value, margin, or profit/loss — whichever question you have before the entry.

  2. 2
    Enter your inputs

Balance, risk %, stop distance, instrument — the things you already know.

  3. 3
    Read the result

One deterministic number, snapped to the instrument's lot and pip conventions.

  4. 4
    Plan and review

Trade with those numbers, then import the statement and compare plan vs reality.

What the forex calculator covers

One toolkit, four answers before the entry: position size from your balance, risk % and stop distance; pip value per lot for the instrument you trade; margin required for the position; and the profit or loss a move would produce. Each tool is a focused form — enter the inputs, read the number, plan the trade.

Why deterministic math matters

Same engine as the journal
Results come from the same exact-decimal engine the Map.Trade journal uses — contract size, pip size, and lot-step rules per instrument. When your account currency differs from the pair's quote currency and no exact conversion basis exists, the result is labelled indicative instead of inventing a live exchange rate.

From calculation to review

The calculation is the plan; the import is the truth. Size the trade here, take it, then import the statement and compare planned versus actual risk. Over time that comparison exposes the habits a single calculation never shows — size drift, drawdown that compounds, and stops that quietly move after entry.

Frequently asked questions

Is the forex calculator free?

Yes. Every calculator is free and public — no account, no login, and no usage cap. You only need an account when you want to import your own trading history and review it next to the same numbers you planned with.

What can it calculate?

Position size from balance, risk % and stop distance; pip value per lot; margin required for a position; and the profit or loss of a given move. All of them apply each instrument's real conventions — contract size, pip size, and lot step.

Does it use live market prices?

The math is deterministic and built from your inputs, not from a price feed. When a currency conversion would be needed and no exact basis exists, the result is labelled indicative — we never fabricate a live exchange rate to make a number look precise.

Does it work for JPY pairs, metals, and indices?

Yes. Each instrument carries its own pip and contract conventions — JPY pairs use a different pip size, metals and indices use different contract sizes — and the calculator applies exactly those, so the result matches how your broker actually measures the move.

How is this different from the position size calculator?

The position size calculator is one tool from this same toolkit with its own deeper, dedicated page. This page covers the whole set — sizing, pip value, margin, and profit/loss — in one place, sharing one deterministic engine.

Is this financial advice?

No. These are deterministic calculators for planning and education. Map.Trade provides no buy/sell signals, no financial advice, and no trade execution — the decision is always yours.
