Pip value is the quiet number behind every risk calculation. Get it wrong and your "1% risk" can secretly be 0.3% or 3%. This calculator gives you the exact value per pip, with honest handling of the cases that trip people up.

What pip value means
The formula
To show it in your account currency we convert exactly when the quote currency equals your account currency (or the account currency is the pair's base and you supply a price). Otherwise the value is clearly labelled indicative.
Worked examples
Gold (XAU/USD): 100 oz × 0.01 = $1 per pip per lot.
Indices: quoted in points — pip value = contract size × point size.

Who it’s for
Build an intuition for why a 20-pip stop on EUR/USD isn't the same risk as on USD/JPY.
Switch between FX, gold, and indices without mis-sizing on a wrong pip value.
Make sure your risk-per-trade math starts from the correct per-pip number.
Size the trade right — then review it in your workspace.

Frequently asked questions
How is pip value calculated?
Contract size × pip size gives the value in the quote currency; we convert to your account currency exactly where possible, otherwise label it indicative.
Why is my pip value shown as indicative?
Because the instrument's quote currency differs from your account currency and no exact conversion basis is available — we never fabricate a live exchange rate.
How is a JPY pair different?
JPY pairs use a 0.01 pip (not 0.0001) and a JPY quote, so the per-pip value and any conversion differ from a typical USD-quoted pair.
Does it support metals, indices and crypto?
Yes — each instrument carries its own contract size and pip/point convention, and the calculator applies them.
Do I need live exchange rates?
Not for the core math. Exact account-currency conversion may need a price; without it, the value is shown as indicative rather than guessed.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is a deterministic calculator. Map.Trade provides no signals and no financial advice.
