Daily Journal
A short written recap of each trading day and how you felt.
Emotion Tag
A tag that records how you felt when you took a trade.
Forward Testing
Testing a strategy on new market data as it unfolds — after a backtest, before risking real capital.
Mistake Tag
A tag that marks a specific error you made on a trade.
Notebook
A free-form space for plans, watchlists, and longer notes.
Out-of-sample
Data a strategy was NOT built or tuned on — used to check whether its edge is real.
Overfitting
Tuning a strategy so tightly to past data that it captures noise, not a real edge — so it fails on new data.
Paper Trading
Practising trades with simulated money so you can rehearse a strategy without financial risk.
Playbook
A collection of your defined setups and how you trade each one.
Screenshot
An image of your chart saved with a trade for later review.
Session
The part of the trading day or market window a trade happened in.
Setup
A specific, repeatable pattern or condition you trade.
Source
Where a trade came from — the broker, platform, or file it was imported with.
Strategy
Your overall plan for how and when you trade.
Tag
A label you attach to a trade to group and filter it later.
Walk-forward Analysis
Repeatedly optimising on one slice of history, then testing on the next unseen slice — rolling forward.
