FOMO

Fear of missing out — chasing a move because you hate being left behind.

Definition

FOMO is the urge to jump into a trade just because the price is moving and you fear missing the opportunity. Trades taken on FOMO usually ignore your plan and your risk rules, which is why they tend to end badly. Naming it makes it easier to pause.

Example

A stock spikes and, afraid of missing the run, you buy at the top with no plan. It reverses — a classic FOMO entry.

Why it matters
