Side

Whether the trade was a buy (long) or a sell (short).

Definition

Side tells you the direction of the trade. "Long" (buy) profits when the price goes up; "short" (sell) profits when the price goes down. Knowing your side is essential for reading a trade and for grouping your results by direction.

Example

You went long on a stock at 100 and sold at 105 — that is a long trade that worked. A short would have been the opposite bet.
