Trading Journal

A record of your trades plus your notes, so you can review and learn.

Definition

A trading journal is simply the history of every trade you have taken, kept in one place alongside your own notes. Instead of relying on memory, you can look back and see what you actually did. The goal is honest review and learning — not bragging rights.

Example

After a week of trading, you open your journal and notice that most of your losses happened on one symbol late in the day. That pattern was invisible until it was written down.

Why it matters

A journal turns vague memory into a reviewable record — the foundation every other improvement is built on.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to log trades manually?

No — you can import a CSV or broker statement so your journal is built from what actually happened.

What should a journal capture beyond P&L?

Setup, mistakes, emotions, screenshots, and notes — the context that explains why a result happened.
