Take Profit

A preset order that closes a trade at a defined profit level, locking in the gain.

Also known asTPTarget

Definition

A take profit (TP) is a resting order that exits a position at a predefined favorable price. It enforces a disciplined exit instead of an emotional one.

In plain English — A take profit closes a trade automatically once price reaches a predefined profit level. It helps you execute the plan before emotion takes over and stops a winning trade from turning into a loss. It is usually set together with the stop loss based on the risk/reward ratio.

Example

Buy at 1.2000 with take profit at 1.2100 (100 pips) and stop loss at 1.1950 (50 pips) → RR 1:2.
