Base & Quote Currency
In a pair, the base is bought/sold; the quote is what its price is measured in.
Carry Trade
Holding a higher-yielding currency against a lower-yielding one to collect the rate difference.
Currency Pair
Two currencies quoted together — the price of one in terms of the other.
Pip
The smallest standard price move in a currency pair, usually the 4th decimal place.
Spread
The gap between the buy (ask) and sell (bid) price — a built-in cost of every trade.
Swap (Rollover)
The interest charged or paid for holding a forex position overnight.
